       Language of the study: Croatian.

  DATA ABOUT QUALITFICATION LEVEL

Qualification level: Undergraduate masters study, with the final graduation paper

Official duration of the study: Three years, six semester study, 180 ECTS credits

Required educational level for study enrollment: Finished 4 year high school or 3 year high school under special conditions.

DATA ABOUT STUDY CONTENT AND PERFORMANCE

Manner of study implementation:  Regular and study-as-you-work course.

Requirements and results of the study programme: Production envelops the implementation of technical, informatical, economical, managerial and social knowledge in the development of products and services which provide humanity well-being. Technical knowledge represents the base of the productional activities and enables the good information about the production processes and applied technologies. Information technology, which uses computers, computer networks, communication systems and technologies for accepting, processing and presenting informations, has the significant impact on the contemporary production development. Knowledge of the laws of economics is required for efficient and rational business management and the information about the market opportunities and risks. Management provides students with knowledge about successful leading of the people and business-production processes with the goalof efficient realization of the set tasks and/or projects, and creation of new values in the companies.

It is almost impossible to find the activity related to the production which is not related to the above mentioned knowledge. Therefore, all these fields are unified in the single undergraduate programme named "Production Engineering". This study programme develops the ability to analyze and solve lower and medium complexity engineering problems, efficient action of the individual within a team, and the contribution to the leading and maintenance of the systems and processes in the production technologies. In study, the basic and expert knowledge from the fields of mathematics, physics, electro-technics, engineering and information technology is applied, with the use of contemporary computer tools, business economics and accounting, and also project management and management of business-production processes with the implementation of contemporary methods and techniques of visualization, continuous improvement of effectiveness and creation of new value.

On the first year of study, the students acquire knowledge in mathematics, physics, English, technical mechanics, electro-technics and applied computer science. Besides, they learn the skills of engineering work and learning, the general principles of team work and practicum; also, they present publicly the seminary papers and team project tasks which they made individually and in teams.

On the second year of study, the student expand their knowledge in English, electo-technics and electronics, machine elements, technology and production technique, knowledge of materiel,  measurement techniques and constructions. They also adopt the knowledge of business economics, and they present publicly the seminary papers and team project tasks which they made individually and in teams.

On the third year of study, the students are introduced to the basic principles of quality management, environment protection and sustainable development, as well as the basics of law and work law, production engineering, management and principles of automatic management. The students are specialized through three elective courses which provide the required knowledge for implementing lower and medium complexity engineering tasks from the field of specialization.

In the 5th and 6th semester, the students divide into teams of 5 to 7 members and realize the project tasks from the project management and management of the business-production process, with the implementation of contemporary methods and techniques of visualization, continuous improvement of effectiveness and creation of new values, and present them publicly; in such manner, they are encouraged to the adoption of the team work competences and the project management. In the sixth semester, the students make the final work individually – this is the precondition for the end of the study.

Team work, practicum and expert practice last throughout three years of the study.

The baccalaureus of the production engineering – polytechnics engineers have acquired the following competences:

            a) Knowledge and understanding

  • of the related principles and techniques important for the machinery, electro-technics, electronics and information technology, business economics and management of projects and processes.
  • of important aspects and concepts of engineering, electro-technics, applied electronics, production technics and technology and automatic regulation.
  • of important areas of business economics and management, technics and information technology, which are based upon the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles adopted through the common courses, as well as the expert knowledge of the area of finished specialization, based upon the contents of the specialization (elective) courses.
  • of social, ethical, business-production and legal context of engineering.

       b) Engineering analysis

  • the ability of implementation of the acquired knowledge for identification, formation and solution of lower and medium complexity engineering problems.
  • the ability of implementation of acquired knowledge in analysis of technical, economical and informatical products, processes, methods and techniques of continuous improvement.

       c) Engineering creativity

  • the ability to implement the acquired knowledge for development and implementation of lower and medium complexity projects according to the set tasks and specifications.
  • understanding of methodology of implementation of lower and medium complexity projects in the field of engineering, electro-technics, electronics, material technique, technology and production technics, construction, business organization and economics, quality management and the ability of use of adequated methods and tools of informatic technology.

       d) Engineering practice

  • selection and implementation of adequate expert principles, computer tools in the analysis of lower and medium complexity technical and business-production processes and systems.
  • ability of unification of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in solving of the problems in the field of technics, economics, management and information technology. Understanding of implemented techniques and methods, and their limitations.

       e) Complementary skills

  • ability of efficient, self-sufficient and team work, and the oral and written presentation of the results of the work.
  • awareness of health, safety and legal issues and responsibilities of the engineering practice, in social and environmental context of engineering solutions, and of the implementation of professional ethics, responsibility and norms of the engineering practice.
  • recognition of the need and readiness for inclusion into the lifelong learning concept.

System of grading and description of the grade distribution:  Continuous monitoring of courses and results through the activity in classes, auditory and laboratory exercises, seminary papers and project tasks. During the semester, the colloquia is organized, and the final exam consists of oral and written part. Each activity is graded in such manner that the sum of all possible points achieved on the base of operational plan of projected activities for individual course, including the colloquia and the final exam, is 100 points. The participation in classes yields up to 10 points, individual work up to 20 points, both colloquia up to 50 points, laboratory exercises up to 15 points, and final examination up to 40 points. The national system of grading is implemented: excellent (5), very good (4), good (3), satisfying (2). Unsatisfying (1) is evidenced, but not written into the student index.

USE OF QUALIFICATION

Access to the further levels of study:  After the finish of this undergraduate expert study programme, the student acquires the right of enrollment into the specialist expert study "Creative process management", but also into every graduate or specialist university or higher education study; to be able to do this, the student may have to pass the differential exams. The conditions for enrollment into the university or master graduate study programmes on other higher education institutions are defined by these institutions.

Professional status:  A person with such qualification is accredited for use of the legally protected academic title of baccalaureus – engineer of polytechnics, and to perform the expert work in the field for which he/she has acquired the title.  The study is based upon the basic knowledge in engineering, electro-technics, electronics, computer science, business organization and economics, business production processes, quality management, management, production technologies, technical measurements and automatic management. Thanks to this, the students acquire required knowledge and skills for solving of the lower and medium complexity tasks in the various branches of industry and entrepreneurship, and for coping with the constant technological changes and innovations. The employment is not necessarily limited to the field of technical, informatical, economic and managerial jobs.
