SEFI is an international non-profit organization established 19 January 1973 in Belgium and founded by 27 European Universities and engineering schools. SEFI is the first example of an association directly linking the institutions of higher engineering education, hence independent of national and/or community filters in establishing its policy, as an international forum for discussing problems and identifying solutions relating to engineering education.
Today, SEFI is the largest network of institutions of higher engineering education, individuals, associations and companies in Europe.
The diversity of its members makes of SEFI a unique organization of this kind in Europe.
MISSION
To contribute to the development and improvement of engineering education in Europe and to the enhancement of the image of both engineering education and engineering professionals in Society.
OBJECTIVES
To:
- Act as an interlocutor between its members, other societies and international bodies
- Contribute to the development and the improvement of higher engineering education
- Improve communication and exchange between professors, researchers and students within Europe
- Offer expertise relating to the situation of higher engineering education in Europe
- Preserve the diversity of courses and of teaching methods
- Promote cooperation between industry and those engaged in engineering education
- Provide appropriate information to its members
- Serve as a European Forum for higher engineering education players and policy makers and contribute in formulate ideas and positions on engineering education
- Ensure influence on engineering education policies in Europe
- Develop the European dimension in higher engineering education
